Chairs: Alex Sproul, USA, and Philippe Axell, Belgium

What is it? SpeleMedia is a competition among producers of moving-image depictions related to caves, cavers, caving, and cave conservation/ restoration. Time permitting, all entries will be shown at the ICS. Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries.

Who may enter? SpeleMedia is open to anyone, amateur or professional, regardless of affiliation with caving organizations or attendance at the Congress. The only entries not acceptable are those that have been entered in previous SpeleMedia (ICS) competitions. Previous entries in the NSS Video Salon, or any other national competition, including those that have won, may be entered in this international competition. All entries must be entirely the work of the entrant, unless credit is included for any/all work of others that is used, indicating that permission has been obtained. Each entrant is limited to no more than three entries.

What can be entered? Entries may be submitted on DVD discs in any digital format. NTSC Standard is preferred, but the PAL Standard is also acceptable. Region Code must be set to 0. Discs will have to be translated to the other standard for judging. Analog (videotape) entries will be accepted only in the NTSC standard. If you wish to enter a production in any other format, please contact the chair in advance.

Judging: All entries will be judged prior to the ICS by an international panel of jurors who are cavers and experts in the field of videography. Entries will be judged on artistic merit, technical merit, impact, and appeal to cavers.

Entry requirements: Entries must be received by 1 April 2009. Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form. The Entry Fee for each entry is $10.00. The fee may be paid by check (drawn on a US bank) or international money order in US dollars payable to "15th ICS" and mailed with the entry. If you prefer, you may pay your entry fee(s) separately by Visa, MasterCard or Discover, using the Salon Payment Page. Entries should be sent to:
