The Photographic Salon celebrates the ethereal beauty of projected images of caves and caving. Cave-related slides and images are projected once, during the Thursday night Salon Awards Program, with a background of instrumental music written for the occasion. Images or slides must be of caves, cave-related subjects, or cave-related humor.
Entries
All entries must be mailed to Cady Soukup (P.O. Box 600, Flint Hill, VA 22627-0600, USA) and must arrive no later than 1 May 2009. Please complete the entry form which asks you to assign each image a number, a category, and a title. You are encouraged to also include a short description of the image (location, participants, unusual stories associated with the picture) on a second line, and/or continued on the back. Please also send a self-portrait slide or digital image.
Categories
- Story Series (maximum of 20 slides, include a caption for each slide in the series). A single story series is considered as one entry.
- Scenes from Nature, including close-ups and images, whether taken with single or multiple flashes or in natural light.
- Enhanced and Surreal Imagery, including non-standard lighting, film processing, gels, computer enhancement, unusual subjects for a cave setting such as models in atypical attire; this is also the category for images that have been digitally manipulated.
- Humor. Humor images are scored by the judges, but selected for show by the Slide Salon Co-Chairmen. If you have a slide that may not meet full artistic standards, but that you feel will be enjoyed by the salon audience for its humor, please consider entering it.

The entry fee is $2.00 for entry of 1-3 film slides or up to 10 digital images. Add $2.00 for each additional
